Business travel basics

What is business travel?

Business travel means different things to different people. We think that business covers all modes of transport – whether it is travel by air, rail, vehicle (car, van, taxi or bus) or bike. We walk for business too.

Business travel can include meeting customers and fellow employees, travelling to sites or attending conferences and events. Business travel does not include freight or logistics. The movement of goods is different to the movement of people.

We have outlined what business travel means to us below.

In this section you will find information on some of the different ways that business travel is managed, who may be involved in its management and a guide to the types of suppliers in the business travel market.

We’ve also included some handy hints and tips on getting the best deal and reducing emissions.
