Telework implementation programme

Making a business case will necessarily involve elements of planning the implementation of telework. However, once the business case has been accepted, there needs to be a clear implementation plan. Guidance is available:

• actnow flex presents a short planning checklist and an implementation checklist
• The Transport for London Smarter Working Guide presents a well-described overall approach to assessing and planning telework implementation in a four-level "Smarter Working Adoption Ladder". (The Guide and the ladder are authored by WorkWise UK, a not-for-profit organisation promoting smarter working practices.)
• Considering the individual teleworker, the BT Business Remote Manager's Toolkit gives a helpful summary of the changes to working practices and how they need to be supported. This is a useful checklist of the practical issues involved in changing the workplace.
