Car clubs

Membership of car clubs allows access to low carbon vehicles for short periods of time, often by the hour, on a pay-as-you-go basis.

The Government views such schemes as an effective way of tackling congestion, reducing CO2 emissions and improving the quality of life of citizens and communities.

Car clubs can be a good choice for business seeking to reduce costs and emissions. They can be cost effective replacement for pool and hire cars, and require less administration. Cars are booked online and maintained by the car club provider.

Car club costs vary, but are from around £4-5 an hour including insurance, congestion charge, road tax, cleaning, servicing, maintenance and the first 25 – 40 miles of fuel. After this distance users are charged around 30-40 pence per mile.
