WIG Workshop: Smarter Transport - Workplace Travel Planning
Wednesday 22 July 2009, 09:00 – 13:00
Host: IBM, London

The Whitehall & Industry Group is pleased to launch a new practical workshop designed to explore workplace travel planning in the context of the public and private sectors.

The workshop has been developed in conjunction with the National Business Travel Network (NBTN), which is funded by the Department for Transport (DfT) to develop and demonstrate the strong business case for workplace travel planning. It will take a look at the options available to WIG member organisations as well as the associated benefits of promoting more efficient ways of working, cutting costs, reducing carbon emissions and increased employee engagement.

Michael Stephenson, Associate Partner, IBM, will Chair the workshop and give an insight into IBM’s current Smarter Planet campaign. He will be joined by Bronwyn Hill, Director-General, Regional Networks, DfT; Jessica Matthew, Deputy Director for Cycling and Sustainable Travel, DfT, who will give an overview of the current policy agenda in this area and Heather McInroy Programme Director, NBTN.

The workshop will then feature two case study sessions with the first focusing on reducing the impacts of commuting and business travel by Samira Ahmed, Head of Transport Strategy at BSkyB and the second by Suffolk County Council on its sustainable workforce travel plans.

Round table discussions at the end of the workshop will enable delegates to share best practice in addition to extended networking over a buffet lunch.

This event is free for WIG members and forms part of WIG’s annual series of shared best practice workshops.

If you would like to attend please email Stephanie Mico at workshops@wig.co.uk with your contact details.

Kind regards
