What it does

ways2work is here to help you and your business work more efficiently. It can save you money, raise your standing as an employer of choice and reduce your environmental impact.

To support you, ways2work:

  • Provides information to help businesses to understand the impacts of work-related travel
  • Considers ways to reduce these impacts for financial, social and environmental benefits
  • Evidences and builds the business case for reduced work-related travel impacts
  • Gives examples of best practice and lessons learned from companies already actively involved
  • Contains a model for planning, executing, reviewing and updating your own sustainable travel and reduced travel initiatives, including:
    • Developing a strategy and business case for promoting sustainable travel (better ways2travel) and reducing travel in your organisation (better ways2work)
    • Engaging stakeholders to help plan and secure resources for your sustainable travel programme
    • Implementing and communicating a package of measures which can include using technologies such as videoconferencing to reduce the need for travel generally; flexible/home working; promotion of car sharing, cycling and walking and/or use of public transport; financial incentives to promote sustainable travel alternatives; reduction of CO2-intensive modes of travel such as cars and flights for business journeys
    • Monitoring and evaluating the impacts of a sustainable travel programme
