  • To achieve 29% reduction in car use, BSkyB incorporated travel plan into CSR programme to become the world's first carbon neutral media company
  • Senior managers provided dedicated budget to improve cycling facilities and programmes.

  • Bike Week in 2007, 2008, 2009, with free breakfasts, towels and events
  • Two Drying Rooms and circa 60 dedicated cycle lockers
  • Free cycle training and a Cycle Users Group
  • New covered cycle parking
  • Over 47 showers across the site
  • A new cycle centre run by an external cycle supplier selling cycles and accessories, services, repairs and hire bikes
  • Walk doctors and Podiatrists
  • Led walks programme
  • Motorcycle User Group and Advanced Rider Training for motorcyclists (IAM)
  • Dedicated car parking for car sharers. Guaranteed Ride Home scheme. Valets/car washes for car sharers on National Liftshare Day
  • Shuttle buses bring staff from tube stations to the campus
  • Internal Transport website with external visitors’ site.

Results/benefits

  • An increase of around 100 cyclists to around 250 people cycling to work each day
  • Surveys show good progress against set targets for all modes
  • Reduction of Single Occupancy Vehicle travel by 18% in 24 months.
