NATS’ two centre strategy meant that a number of sites across the country were relocated to their Corporate & Technical Centre in Hampshire

To encourage sustainable travel to a site with limited parking and as part of their commitment to carbon neutrality, NATS are striving to reduce their commuting and business travel carbon footprint by 30%

Due to the nature of the core business it is important that employees arrive on time for work and delays are minimal
Sustainable travel intervention(s)

Parking – NATS provide 72 designated parking spaces to car sharers registered on NATS carshare database

Cycling – NATS supports the Cycle to Work Salary Sacrifice Scheme. Drying rooms and lockers are provided at all sites and pool bikes are available for short journeys between sites. Promotional events including Doctor Bike visits, Police Security marking, and inter-site rides are used to promote are held to support existing cyclists and encourage new participants

Walking – local walking maps and good facilities are provided on site to support staff walking to work. Walkers can also use cyclists' facilities. Postcode analysis highlighted 27% of employees were living within walking and cycling distance of the site

Public transport – a shuttle bus service is provided for staff commuting via neighbouring train stations and from Bournemouth daily to assist those recently relocated

Car sharing – a private car sharing database has been set up linked in with HANTS car share. Staff car sharing at least 3 days a week are allocated their own car park space

HR / Corporate policies – NATS offers staff season ticket loans, interest free loans for cycles & motorcycles and a flexible working policy with line manager approval.
