Reduce costs, improve resource efficiency

Throughout ways2work you will see examples of companies that are saving significant amounts of money through better ways of working and more sustainable ways of travelling. From FTSE 100 companies reducing costs by many millions to small organisations saving hundreds of pounds, it is clear that there is money to be saved and efficiencies to be made.

We live in a globally integrated society that is networked by unprecedented communications technology. Our lives and ways of doing business have changed dramatically in the last ten to fifteen years offering both opportunities and challenges. One of the challenges is realising these opportunities and not holding on to the physical past – work is something we do and not necessarily somewhere we go.

Microsoft and Unwork have written a whitepaper called The Anywhere Working City which explores four key concepts:

  • the relationship between infrastructure and architecture
  • the “touch-down office” and “third working spaces”
  • the 100 mile city
  • the evolution, not revolution of our cities

One of the key ideas of the whitepaper is the idea of a “third space” a new set of urban locations within a city where people, place and technology meet to bridge the gap between home and the office. Read the document to find out more.
